A short 15 minute drive to our south lies Biddeford Pool & Wood Island Lighthouse affording beautiful distant views of the entire 7 mile stretch of Old Orchard Beach.

Less than 1/2 hour to our south lies the popular shopping area of Kennebunkport's scenic and quaint Dock Square. Kennebunkport is also famous for Walkers Point, still the summer home of our 41st President, George Bush and his wife Barbara. Parsons Way is a popular seaside walk along the rocky coast just south of Walkers Point. The path winds along the ocean past "Spouting Rock" and the "Blowing Cave".

Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve offers 1600 scenic acres of research reserve including a 19th century saltwater farm, Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge area, Laudholm Farm Visitors Center, exhibits, and seven miles of trails along marshes, fields, and wetlands. Open year round off Route 9 in Wells, this is a popular day trip for nature enthusiasts.

Continuing south, Ogunquit offers a small picturesque village 40 minutes from Old Orchard Beach. Known for its numerous artists for more than a half a century, walking tours of art galleries and private studios can start anywhere in town.

A walking tour along The Marginal Way, a footpath along the beautiful rocky shoreline ending in the picturesque Perkins Cove, is a must for every visitor. Ogunquit is also home to one of New England's last original summer theater.

Portland Headlight & Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse are both less than a half hour to our north in Cape Elizabeth. Portland Headlight was commissioned by George Washington and first lit in 1791. Portland Headlight is located in beautiful Fort Williams Park. It is Maine's oldest lighthouse and offers an onsite museum.
